Haier Biomedical Adopts Honeywell Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent For Biomedical Freezers
Low-global-warming-potential solution improves energy efficiency and insulating performance
MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. Nov. 19, 2020 – Honeywell today announced that Haier Biomedical, a leading global biomedical technology provider, has adopted Honeywell Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA) for its low-temperature medical storage equipment to enhance product safety, improve insulating performance, increase energy efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. Haier Biomedical offers comprehensive solutions storage for biological sample banks, blood safety, vaccine safety, medical supplies, and reagent safety. As a main product line of Haier Biomedical, the low-temperature cold-chain freezers safely preserve vaccines, blood plasma, test samples, specimens and other biologics.
Blowing agents are key ingredients in polyurethane foam insulation, allowing the foam to expand and deliver excellent insulating performance which, in turn, improves energy efficiency. Blowing agents are used in appliances including freezers, refrigerators and water heaters, and provide 60 percent, or the majority, of the insulating value of foam. Solstice LBA is 10 percent more energy efficient than competitive blowing agents like hydrocarbons.
Companies around the world are turning to Solstice LBA to satisfy the need for safe, reliable, and high-performing blowing agent technology that meets worldwide regulations calling for the phaseout of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). By adopting Solstice LBA, Haier Biomedical joins more than a dozen appliance manufacturers worldwide that have chosen Honeywell’s blowing agents.
“Haier Biomedical’s selection of Solstice LBA helps Honeywell advance our blowing agent technology, and gives the customer a safe alternative to meet global HFC regulations,” said Laura Reinhard, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Foam and Industrial Products. “We are committed to helping appliance OEMs like Haier transition to safe and energy-efficient solutions that also provide ultra-low GWP.”
In addition to appliances, Solstice LBA is used in a variety of polyurethane foam insulation applications such as spray foam, panels, pipes, LNG carriers, and reefer containers and trailers. It also is used in polyurethane flexible foam applications such as those used in furniture, car seats, and footwear.
Haier Biomedical is a biomedical technology ecological brand that was founded to focus on research and development, production and sales of biomedical low temperature storage equipment based on the transformation of IoT. It is the global leading biomedical brand in the market covering the entire temperature range from -196 ℃ to 8 ℃.
